About PERU LNG

By operating the first liquefied natural gas processing plant in South America, PERU LNG positions Peru as a leader in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry in the region.

The company has committed itself to contributing positively and in the long term to the economic and social growth of the country and the communities located in the region where it operates.

Among other commitments, PERU LNG has taken on the responsibility to comply with high environmental and safety standards, both in the development of its operations and in its management, with respect for local customs and the national legislation. The company also develops social responsibility programs that create opportunities for sustainable growth, and environmental responsibility programs that contribute to preserving the flora and fauna of its surroundings.

HISTORY

PERU LNG was created on March 24, 2003, with the purpose of developing, constructing, and operating a liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing plant.

2006 - Primera Piedra

The infrastructure of the company includes a processing plant and related facilities, marine facilities for methane tankers, as well as a 408-km gas pipeline.

To date, PERU LNG is the largest private investment in hydrocarbons in the history of the country (USD 3.8 billion). During its construction phase, the company generated more than 20 thousand jobs and contributed 2% to GDP growth.

  • 2000

    Feasibility studies and evaluations for the project are initiated.

  • 2005

    Earthmoving and civil engineering works begin on land owned by PERU LNG.

  • 2006

    In 2006, with the ESIAs approved and after an investment of more than US $265 million, the final investment decision was made to proceed. LNG plant is signed.

  • First stone laying.

  • 2007

    The year culminated with important construction achievements, such as the placement of the base of one of the tanks.

  • 2008

    The mobilization of rocks for the construction of the breakwater that is part of the marine terminal begins.

  • 2010

    Inauguration: On June 10, PERU LNG begins operations, becoming the first liquefied natural gas processing plant in South America.

  • 2010

    On June 22, the first cargo of Liquefied Natural Gas was dispatched.

  • 2012

    The 100th shipment is carried out, a milestone in the liquefied natural gas industry. Celebrating two years of operations at the PERU LNG plant

  • 2017

    PERU LNG built the LNG truck loading terminal that will promote the massification of the use of natural gas through the transportation of the fuel to the interior regions of the country.

  • 2017

    The Mi Chacra Emprendedora - Haku WiƱay project receives the 2017 Sustainable Development Award from the SNMPE, in recognition of good social and environmental practices in the hydrocarbons sector within the framework of a sustainable development policy.

  • 2019

    500th cargo loaded.

  • 2020

    Anniversary of PERU LNG, June 10.

  • Ten years after its inauguration, the PERU LNG plant continues its operations.

  • 2022

    Successful implementation of the ShoreTension Vertical Unit mooring system.

  • 2015

    300th cargo loaded.
