It was recognized by the SNMPE in the Local Development Management category for supporting communities in extreme poverty in Ayacucho.
The Mi Chacra Emprendedora - Haku Wiñay project, a program developed by FONCODES and financed by PERU LNG in nine locations in the Ayacucho region, received the 2017 Sustainable Development Award, granted by the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE), in recognition of good social and environmental practices in the hydrocarbons sector within the framework of a sustainable development policy.
Mi Chacra Emprendedora - Haku Wiñay was recognized in the Local Development Management category, which rewards the support to the productive development of the communities that are part of the company's sphere of influence.
The winning project promotes the improvement of the capabilities, living conditions and nutrition of rural households living in poverty, through training, technical assistance and the provision of inputs for the adoption of healthy practices and the consumption of nutritious food. This initiative benefited 283 families in the localities of Hatunpallcca, Totora, Anchihuay Sierra, Osqoqocha, Qollpa, Allpacorral, Pampanhuaylla, Cochas and Putacca.
The program has led to a considerable reduction in chronic malnutrition and anemia in children under 5 years of age, as well as a reduction in anemia among pregnant mothers in Anco and San Miguel. It also financed the implementation of 283 improved kitchens, 50 sprinkler irrigation modules, 231 open field vegetable cultivation modules, 268 associated pasture plots, 93 mini-plots for grain production, 60 mini-plots for tuber production, 187 agroforestry modules, 276 organic fertilizer production modules, 244 chicken breeding modules and 213 guinea pig breeding modules.
The beneficiary families also received technical assistance and were trained in healthy hygiene practices, housekeeping, boiled water consumption, space distribution and solid waste management.
Mi Chacra Emprendedora - Haku Wiñay was implemented within the framework of the agreement signed in 2014 between PERU LNG and the Cooperation Fund for Social Development - FONCODES, through which the company committed to finance 100% of the intervention.
The Sustainable Development Award is the second recognition obtained by Mi Chacra Emprendedora - Haku Wiñay. A few months ago it received the Award for Good Practices in Public Management, granted by Ciudadanos Al Día.
