PERU LNG, Regional Government and Regional Education Directorate of Ayacucho sign agreement to contribute to the development of education

The company delivers 160 computers, 27 school mini-libraries and finances training sessions for Ayacucho teachers working in the project's area of influence.

The Regional Government of Ayacucho, the Regional Directorate of Education (DREA) and PERU LNG signed an agreement to support the improvement of the educational quality of the school population in the rural communities of Ayacucho.

Through this agreement, the company will deliver 160 computer modules, 27 mini-libraries, a training workshop for technology leaders of the DREA and will contribute with the financing of the 2009 teacher training sessions to be developed by the Local Educational Management Units of La Mar and Huamanga.

"With this contribution, PERU LNG continues with its commitment to contribute to the development of the communities surrounding the project. We support education because we believe it is a fundamental part of our country's progress," said Barbara Bruce, General Manager of PERU LNG.

This important contribution will benefit more than 4400 students from more than 38 schools, who will be able to improve their learning level thanks to the inclusion of new technology for their school performance. In addition, the delivery of 27 mini libraries will promote reading among students, since each mini library has 200 books. This will contribute to the Reading Plan proposed by the Ministry of Education.

On the other hand, the technological leaders of the DREA will be trained in the use and basic maintenance of computers, as well as in basic topics related to the use of educational software developed by the Ministry of Education. They will be trained by specialists from the prestigious company Advance, a supplier of computer equipment that also provides specialized technological training services, and by the staff of the General Directorate of Educational Technologies of the Ministry of Education.

Likewise, PERU LNG will contribute with the financing of the 2009 teacher training workshops to be organized by the UGELs of La Mar and Huamanga, in coordination with the DREA. Specialists from the Centro de Investigaciones y Servicios Educativos (CISE) of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú will participate in the teacher training, contributing to the diversification of the school curriculum with the inclusion of new topics.

In the coming weeks, the computer equipment and libraries will be delivered directly to the educational institutions of the Ayacucho Region located in the area of direct influence of PERU LNG, where the correct care and protection of the new school equipment has been coordinated with the Parents' Associations (APAFA) and the principals.

"With this contribution our schools will be renewed and with the computer training we will have the opportunity to better prepare the students of our communities in the use of new technologies", added Marcelino Vera Lapa, Director of the Educational Institution N° 38405 of Osqoqocha, in the district of Anco, province of La Mar.

Ernesto Molina, Regional President of Ayacucho, Mr. Ricardo Arone, Regional Director of Education and Ms. Barbara Bruce, General Manager of PERU LNG attended the ceremony.
