More than 800 participants received counseling from psychologist and RPP host Rachel Watson.
PERU LNG organized in Cañete, Chincha and Huamanga the conference "Raising with respect: learning to set limits for our children", given by the renowned psychologist Rachel Watson, host of the radio program "Sin vueltas" broadcast by Radio Programas del Perú.
The expert provided guidelines on how to set limits for children in certain situations and specify the consequences if they do or do not comply. The key is for parents to act in a positive way, that is, taking into account that each child is unique and needs different motivations, establishing clear rules, realistic goals, and standing firm when they have to say "no".
She also explained to parents that raising children with respect and affection makes them more self-confident and improves their self-esteem. She emphasized that the time and attention given to children helps them to feel that they are valuable and prepares them to bond with other people.
Following on from the above, Rachel stressed the importance of accepting children's faults and mistakes and the need for parents to express their willingness to support them. She warned that children's idea of themselves is closely linked to the opinions their parents have expressed about them. That is why it is so important that they perceive their parents' full acceptance of them.
These talks are part of the activities that PERU LNG has been organizing for 10 years with the aim of creating spaces to address issues that facilitate the improvement of the lifestyle and quality of life of families.
