The ceremony was attended by the President and the Minister of Energy and Mines

On September 8th, PERU LNG officially opened its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Truck Loading facility which will allow supplying this fuel, via cistern trucks, to regasification stations in northern and southern Peru, making it possible for households to be supplied with natural gas; besides, thousands of vehicles will be able to run on natural gas.

President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, Minister of Energy and Mines Cayetana Aljovín, national, regional and local authorities, and private sector representatives attended the opening ceremony.

“It’s an enormous success amidst a complicated story. Natural gas will reach now more regions in Peru, as natural gas is now being supplied only in Lima and Ica”, President Kuczynski stressed. In turn the Minister of Energy and Mines said that “through the so-called virtual system this fuel will be transported to 11 cities in Peru to supply and improve the life quality of more Peruvians.”

The modern terminal, which required a US$ 17 million investment, will supply 30 m3 (13,000 gallon) T3S3 cryogenic cistern trucks. Gases del Pacífico – QUAVII will be in charge of natural gas distribution in Cajamarca, Lambayeque, Chiclayo, Pacasmayo, Trujillo, Chimbote and Huaraz, in northern Peru, while Gas Natural FENOSA will be in charge of natural gas distribution in Arequipa, Moquegua, Ilo, and Tacna in southern Peru.

The terminal has the capacity for supplying 240,000 gallons of liquefied natural gas per day and is enabled to load LNG into 13,000-gallon cryogenic trucks. It includes a control center, a depressurization station, pipelines to transport natural gas from the plant to the facility, safety mechanisms, electric systems, control systems, communication systems, closed television circuits, etc.
