The Impacting Lives Program (Impactando Vidas), an initiative funded by PERU LNG to encourage children to play table tennis or ping-pong in national schools in Chincha and Cañete, was set in motion last June 14th. The program incorporates this sport in the physical education curriculum of schools.

The launching ceremony was carried out at the José Pardo y Barreda School, in Chincha. In attendance were María Julia Aybar, General Manager of PERU LNG; Mónica Liyau, President and coordinator of the Impacting Lives Program; and representatives from the Regional Bureau of Education for Ica.

This program is intended to benefit 8236 schoolchildren and 72 teachers from 9 schools. Six beneficiary schools belong to the district of Chincha Alta and one to the district of Pueblo Nuevo, in the Province of Chincha, while two schools belong to San Vicente de Cañete.

The program contemplates building concrete tennis tables and providing sports equipment and training to physical education teachers, including certification and assessment and monitoring of the evolution and progress of schoolchildren.

This program is also intended to identify young talents. 80% of schools are expected to incorporate table tennis in their curriculum and 70% of teachers are expected to pass the theoretical-practical examination of table tennis techniques.
