PERU LNG’s port terminal receives ISO 9001 certification

Jun 2012

PERU LNG’s port terminal obtained ISO 9001:2008 certification which recognizes that the marine terminal processes and services are properly controlled to assure efficient and high-quality procedures.

ISO 9001 is an international management standard that is recognized world-wide as a guarantee of high quality and performance. In the case of PERU LNG, the ISO 9001 certifies the high quality of the LNG shipping service and the provision of basic port services like mooring, unmooring, piloting and towing.

“PERU LNG is a world-class project that meets world-class standards like ISO 9001,” said Igor Salazar, General Manager of PERU LNG. “We are proud to be setting an example by meeting the highest standards.”

ISO certification was granted by the International Organization for Standardization, and certified by the well-known audit entity, Société Générale Surveillance (SGS), after a thorough audit of port terminal operations. As part of this effort, all steps involved in the LNG shipping operation were taken into account, from the mooring of vessels to the terminal, to the arrival of liquefied natural gas into the terminal, the fulfillment of legal requirements and, above all, the adequate training of employees in marine activities. To achieve this certification, several of these processes were improved and integrated.
