- PERU LNG has inaugurated a second liquefied natural gas loading station that will double the dispatch capacity of trucks carrying this resource to families in the north and south of Peru.
June 2024.- PERU LNG, a company that managed to build and operate the first liquefied natural gas processing plant in South America, is reinforcing its commitment to the massification of natural gas with the construction of the second loading station to dispatch liquefied natural gas through trucks. This system allows its distribution through trucks, known as “virtual pipelines,” and is taking natural gas to 10 regions in the north and south of the country.
The station in operation has a supply capacity of 18 trucks daily and 126 weekly. This system has been essential in response to the growing demand for natural gas in the country. Currently, more than 250 thousand residential and commercial users are benefiting from this reliable and sustainable supply. More than 21,049 trucks have been supplied carrying gas to the north (Lambayeque, La Libertad, Áncash, Cajamarca, Ucayali, and San Martín) and south of the country (Arequipa, Moquegua, Tacna, and Cusco).
This is a new infrastructure in the existing processing plant, which has been a milestone in the efficient use of this resource at the national level. The construction of the second station will double the supply capacity from the PERU LNG plant, reaching up to 36 trucks per day.
“At PERU LNG we reaffirm our commitment to the development of Peru, making a new investment to have an asset that allows us to continue contributing to the massification of natural gas nationwide. The infrastructure for truck dispatch is essential to continue guaranteeing reliable supply to all regions that currently receive it and to expand the service so that new regions can receive it,”said Jaime Risco, general manager of PERU LNG.
It is necessary to highlight that natural gas is not only essential for the Peruvian household economy, representing up to 25% of monthly savings, but it is also a cleaner and more environmentally sustainable alternative. In this way, PERU LNG continues to position itself as a key stakeholder in the country's energy transformation, allowing the distribution of this resource to places that are difficult to access, and contributing significantly to the sustainable development of Peru.
