Within the framework of the challenging scenario faced by the hydrocarbons sector due to the pandemic and following high standards in the evaluation process, the company PERU LNG achieved two recognitions in the Sustainable Development 2020 Award, organized by the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE).
In the new category “Together against COVID-19- joining forces”, PERU LNG won first place in the hydrocarbons sector with the project “Leer es Estar Adelante”, designed and developed in collaboration with the Institute of Peruvian Studies for the BBVA Foundation-Peru. With its implementation and intervention in public educational institutions, it has allowed to improve the reading comprehension level of students in Ayacucho and Huancavelica.
Similarly, in the Social Management category, won the second place for the implementation of the program “Strengthening the management capacities of public investment in local governments”, worked in agreement with the Center for Mining and Sustainability Studies at the University of the Pacific. As a result, local governments in the regions of Ica, Ayacucho and Huancavelica have raised approximately US$13 million to finance projects in their communities.
In this fifteenth edition of the contest, more than 60 projects were presented and rigorously evaluated by different personalities from the public and private sectors, academics and journalists. For this process, it was taken as a requirement that the initiatives are related to innovation, sustainability, commitment to the population and always aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
